About the Event
Instructor and Peer Support Foundation President Jeremy Sprague for a 3-days of Peer Support training. This training is hosted by the Bismarck Police Department.
The 7-hours Basic Peer Support will discuss the psychology of first responders throughout their career and how they are emotionally and physically affected by hypervigilance both short and long-term. It reviews basic self-care techniques for first responders. The training reviews basic peer support concepts, philosophy, and function. It reviews peer support best practices and policies from around the country. It discusses how a proactive peer support program can be helpful to first responders.
The ICISF Group Crisis Intervention course is a 2-day course designed to teach participants to prepare participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services. Fundamentals of Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) will be outlined and participants will leave with the knowledge and tools to provide several group crisis interventions, specifically demobilizations, defusings, and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD). The need for appropriate follow-up services and referrals when necessary will also be discussed.
